Mount Solaro
Standing at an imposing 589 metres, Mount Solaro is the highest peak on the island and affords some of the most breathtaking views.
There are two main ways of climbing the mountain, one being somewhat quicker and less energy-consuming than the other. Most people choose the chairlift which gently rises up the mountain, gliding above the trees. The chairlift is suitable for most people but for those that suffer from fear of heights there's a well-established path that winds its way up rather more slowly. However slow it may be, the walking option does allow you to see a bit more of the mountain than those that take the chairlift see with some interesting paths leading off to the likes of Cetrella, a pretty meadow area which is the home to Casa Mackenzie and the Hermitage of Santa Maria a Cetrella. |
